I have known Paul as my line manager around the time I started East Herts around 13 years ago, I don't just see him as my manager but also a great friend, colleague and father figure to the whole department and always brightens up the day with a smile. I send my condolences to his family, and he'll be missed by his friends and work colleagues. Thank you for taking me into East Herts Paul, you will be missed by all.

Springfield Airgun Club

The club ran an HFT comp for Paul and all takings on the day including donations from club members were included. Paul didnt miss a monthly shoot in 2024 and always looked forward to shooting at this club.

Paul was a great friend, Shooting Partner and co course setter. I feel honoured to have had him as a dear friend for a number of years. He was there when my marriage broke up and I have seen him help countless people over the years. It feels like something has died inside me, but his memory will live on and he will be remember always at the different shooting venues. RIP Paul.

To Liz, Jamie, Emily and all of Paul's family, I can't quite believe it. Paul was my manager and 'work brother' for the best part of 20 years. He was there through all the ups and downs in the Planning department, and we had a lot of fun and great banter along the way. His passing has left a gaping hole, both in the Planning department and East Herts Council as a whole. I will always remember Paul's warmth, his upbeat nature, his cheeky sense of humour, his helpfulness and his ability to support, nurture and stand up for people, not just in his own team but across the whole department. Liz, Jamie and Emily. I am so sorry for your loss and want you to know that everyone is here for you should you wish to talk. I can't begin to explain how much Paul did for everyone at East Herts and just how much he has changed and impacted the lives of people around him. Whilst technically the big boss he was a great friend, guide and a father figure to all the younger staff providing so much help and guidance when everything seemed to be at rock bottom. He has improved the work life for so many people passing in and out of East Herts with his love, jokes, chatty character, motivation, Schöffel addiction and enthusiasm for wanting to be one of the cool kids at the pub on a Friday. Without Paul and his service and commitment to his work and team I genuinely don't think anyone would stay for even remotely as long as they sometimes did at EH. Whilst we wouldn't admit it to his face he really was on of the cool young planners and he will be missed dearly. Rest Easy Paul x
