A million times I've needed you
A million times I've cried,
If love alone Could have saved you
You never would have died.
In life I loved you dearly;
In death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a space,
Where no one can ever fill.
It broke my heart to lose you,
But you didn't go alone
Part of me went with you,
The day god took you home.

Learn more about us
The British Red Cross has been helping people in crisis for almost 150 years, whoever and wherever they are. Across the world, we provide emergency supplies and medical assistance to people in desperate need as a result of conflict or natural disasters. We respond within hours and stay long after the emergency is over, reuniting families and helping communities to recover and cope better in future.
In the UK, we help vulnerable people by providing medical equipment, transport and care in the home. We train people in life-saving first aid skills and our volunteers provide vital back up to the emergency services whenever a disaster – such as a fire, train crash or flood – occurs.
Your donation in memory of a loved one to the British Red Cross will be a lasting contribution to the cause of humanity.

Probably one of the toughest ladies, like her idol Maggie , but with an amazing sense of humour and underneath the tough exterior, hid a heart of gold . I'll never forget my first "interview " with Daphne when I first met her , studying to be an accountant seemed to go down pretty well!🤣. Daphne loved a good argument , despite us having at the time similar political views we still disagreed on pretty much everything and I was always wrong! , in the words of one of my old bosses who met her , she was always right🤣 . I'll miss the Daphne I remember , in the last few years unfortunately she'd lost her zest for life, her generation like my mother just cracked on and got on with things , and were incredibly organised . One of my lasting memories was a game we played in Devon with Daphne and Tony , Pictionary . Now Tony was no artist but I recall his rude boy drawing had Daphne in hysterics and she often recalled it .Daphne more openly adored her grand children and will be great missed

Dear Auntie Daphne, I will miss you more than you will ever know. I will forever remember your beauty, kindness and humour (hilariously sharp). Whenever I visited you and Tony, there was a plentiful supply of tea and cake; with your ever so discrete observations on my opinions, general behaviour and manners! You always reminded me of my own mother, Hazel, your beloved sister. You both shared the same glamorous beauty and adoration from all around you. You will of course always live on through your quite astonishingly wonderful and lovely daughters; Louise, Melanie and Gaye. My delightful memories of you are inseparable from my memories of my beloved cousins; and I know that was equally shared by my two brothers. You were always so stylish and caring and never lost for words; even if they were occasionally misconstrued. No one could ever claim that you failed to express yourself! And now as you rest in peace, I must not say goodbye, but softly 'au revoir' to my wonderful Auntie Daphne x
