Each funeral tribute page can support one or more chosen UK charities or good causes, giving family and friends a simple and secure way to donate and leave messages of condolence and support.

We work with organisations of different sizes, from well-known national charities to local charities and good causes that are important to individual families and communities.

Yes. We believe families should be able to support the organisations that genuinely mattered to their loved one.

Local organisations can often have a particularly strong connection with the person being remembered, their family or their community, so it's important to us that families can support appropriate local causes.

Memory Giving is therefore not limited to national charities. UK charities and good causes of different sizes, including national and local organisations, can be supported.

A charity or good cause may be selected to receive donations even if it does not already have an established relationship with Memory Giving.

We would, however, encourage organisations receiving donations through Memory Giving to register for free with us so they can benefit from the additional information and services available to registered organisations.

No. There is no registration or subscription fee for charities and good causes to register with Memory Giving.

Registering helps us work more closely with your organisation and gives you access to additional information and reporting relating to donations received through Memory Giving.

It also helps us make sure we hold the correct information for your organisation and can transfer donations efficiently.

When a funeral tribute page is created, the family or funeral director can select the UK charities or good causes the family would like to support in memory of their loved one.

Donors visiting the page can then donate to the chosen organisation(s).

Yes. Families can choose more than one UK charity or good cause where they would like donations to be made in memory of their loved one.

Donations are made securely online through the funeral tribute page.

This gives family and friends a straightforward way to donate at a time that suits them, using a compatible device and one of the available payment methods.

Memory Giving collects donations made through funeral tribute pages and arranges for the funds to be transferred to the appropriate charities and good causes.

Registered organisations can also benefit from the donation information and reporting available through Memory Giving.

Charities and good causes not registered with Memory Giving will receive information about the funeral tribute page and payments by email.

Registered organisations also receive information by email but can also access reporting about donations received through Memory Giving.

Registered charities can receive relevant information that helps identify the funeral tribute and the person in whose memory donations have been made.

This can help your organisation acknowledge and record in-memory giving appropriately.

Yes. Where a charity is registered with Memory Giving, the donation is eligible and the donor completes the appropriate declaration, Memory Giving manages the Gift Aid process.

No. There is no charge for processing Gift Aid and the eligible charity receives the full Gift Aid amount successfully claimed direct from H M Revenue & Customs.

Gift Aid allows eligible charities to receive additional money from HMRC on qualifying donations.

Under the current Gift Aid scheme, an eligible charity can normally receive an additional 25p for every £1 donated by an eligible UK taxpayer who has made a valid Gift Aid declaration.

Where the appropriate permission has been provided, relevant next-of-kin information can be shared to enable your organisation to acknowledge the donations received in memory of their loved one.

No. Donor information is not passed onto charities and good causes. Memory Giving emails a thank you to every donor on behalf of the family and charity or good cause.

Yes. Protecting donations and personal information is fundamental to Memory Giving.

We are committed to handling every donation safely, securely and respectfully, with transparency throughout the process.

Where your organisation has been selected by the family, its name, logo and about details can be displayed as part of the donation information on the funeral tribute page.

Registered organisations can help us ensure the information we hold about them is accurate and up to date.

Yes. A funeral tribute page gives donors an opportunity to see which organisations were important to the person being remembered.

After the funeral tribute page closes to donations, Memory Giving directs visitors to an organisation’s website to make further donations or find out further information about their work.

Information is handled in accordance with applicable UK data protection requirements and our Privacy Policy, with appropriate consideration given to the choices and permissions provided by families and donors.
