I was lucky enough to work with Mark on our Kew-Leicester project in Ethiopia, and was looking forward to spending a week together in the field and meeting with colleagues. On behalf of all his friends in Ethiopia we were very saddened to lose him so unexpectedly. A short silence was held at the beginning of our recent conference, that Mark was due to lead, to remember his immense kindness and wisdom. Throughout our continued work, I hope it is a small consolation that he won't be forgotten.
