Fond memories of friendship and stories with Dave in Dover in the middle of the night, wiating for papers or a ferry. Probably his tacho had busted again. Way before he decided he could orchestrate whilst pulling a pint, DVSA and HSE weren't concerns for Mavericks like Dave hauling across Europe. Belt and braces pulled tight, off they went; true trucking adventurers, testing the maps and paving the way ever further; patching up their and their comrades' equipment on the go. Tales of escapades into deepest Eastern Europe, running into bent officials and marauding criminals, or getting cocky with fires to get the diesel going. Loads got loaded and deliveries got delivered - with good grace, integrity, and always a dose of good humour. There didn't seem to be that many of them, maybe it was just the known characters clocked back and forward so often; a band of familiar faces wherever they stopped up all over Europe, and none more recognizable for a laugh and a chat than big Dave Hogg.
